Creo que debería haber algún mensaje armonizado con respecto al controvertido "triángulo de la vida" para protegerse durante un terremoto.

Triangle of Life is a misguided idea about the best location a person should try to occupy during an earthquake, "Drop, Cover and Hold On!" is still the better option for people during an earthquake.

Pets - Harmonized Messages:
Keep a collar, current license and up-to date ID tags on your pet at all times. Consider having your pet micro-chipped (where available).
Make sure your pet is comfortable being in a crate, box, cage, or carrier for transport.
Keep an updated list of trusted neighbors who could assist your animals in case of an emergency.
Tighten and secure latches on birdcages. Fasten down aquariums on low stands or tables.

Excellent interventions Claudio and Ricardo. As Ricardo said inclusion is something we have to take into account during emergencies but if we don't start working on the best messages we as humanitarian workers will not be able to make for example advocacy actions that have a real impact on authorities and population. As for the message about "the triangle of life" we also need to discuss this because there is a lot of confussion going on around them Claudio waht type of message you can propose for this subject? regards friends!

DO NOT get in the "triangle of life": In recent years, an e-mail has been circulating which describes an alternative to the long-established "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" advice. The so-called "triangle of life" and some of the other actions recommended in the e-mail are potentially life threatening, and the credibility of the source of these recommendations has been broadly questioned.
The "triangle of life" advice (always get next to a table rather than underneath it) is based on several wrong assumptions:
• buildings always collapse in earthquakes (wrong- especially in developed nations, and flat "pancake" collapse is rare anywhere);
• when buildings collapse they always crush all furniture inside (wrong- people DO survive under furniture or other shelters);
• people can always anticipate how their building might collapse and anticipate the location of survivable void spaces (wrong- the direction of shaking and unique structural aspects of the building make this nearly impossible) ; and
• during strong shaking people can move to a desired location (wrong- strong shaking can make moving very difficult and dangerous).
Some other recommendations in the "triangle of life" e-mail are also based on wrong assumptions and very hazardous. For example, the recommendation to get out of your car during an earthquake and lay down next to it assumes that there is always an elevated freeway above you that will fall and crush your car. Of course there are very few elevated freeways, and laying next to your car is very dangerous because the car can move and crush you, and other drivers may not see you on the ground!

Me parece importante la capacitacion de los niños y desarrollo de progamas a fin de que ellos sepan como actuar en caso de un desastre, la reciiencia es muy significativa en ellos. seria bueno trabajar en esos objetivos.

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to share with you a initiative from the Japan Meteorological Agency about the Early Warning Systems and other key message with useful information For all the residents in Japan. on this web page we can find flyers and video (in english only) that they use to train the population to be prepared in case of earthquake.

Regards,

Krystell

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) provides residents in Japan with Earthquake Early Warnings. This is a new system that issues prompt alerts just as an earthquake starts, providing valuable seconds for people to protect themselves before strong tremors arrive. On 1 October 2007, JMA launched the Earthquake Early Warning service for provision through a number of media outlets such as TV and radio.
